Over four decades ago Italians migrating to the Illawarra brought with them their passion for “la cucina italiana”. The Italian Centre’s early years were instrumental in introducing the native flavours of Italy to Wollongong. Centro CBD has carried on this tradition and remains at the forefront of Italian cuisine in Wollongong. Our chefs invoke a feeling of warmth with dishes that reflect traditional, authentic flavours and techniques of Italian cuisine where you’ll be able to spoil yourself and your appetite. The service is attentative, kind and nurturing and we pride ourselves in ensuring the best possible overall experience.

Our a La Carte menu is generous; antipasti might be arancini or carpaccio di manzo, oysters in various ways or a simple fresh prosciutto pizza. ” Le Paste”, includes our much loved gnocchi four cheeses, alongside a variety of pappadelle, tagliarini, cannelloni and we wouldn’t be truly Italian without an authentic secret bolognese recipe. There is  a wide selection of seafood, meat, vegetables, salads and decadent desserts. Catering for those who are vegan , vegetarian or have other dietary requirements are always welcomed just let us know at the time of booking.

Coffee

You may ask why dedicate a paragraph to coffee! Italian migrants were excited to see an expresso machine being installed at the early Centre ( as seen in picture ) where patrons were entertained when the large machine hissed, plumbed and gushed streams of aromatic coffee and then would promptly line up to drink this “homeland” gold liquid. Australians are now hailed as one of the world’s great lovers of coffee embracing the black bean more wholeheartedly than most countries in the world. Centro CBD is proud of its history in our nation’s ever growing coffee culture.

Our Wines

Our wine list sits alongside our menu to compliment and enhance your dining experience offering Italian greats such as Barolo, Brunello and Amarone. Whilst we are proud to offer quality wines from Italy we also pay homage to our local land with an impressive representation of Australian wines from various regions with a selection of these also available by the glass.
